About Peggy
After a forty-plus year hiatus, I told myself I’d get back to painting, and in 2017 that’s just what I did. My husband and I moved out of Manhattan and back to my roots in the Detroit area, where painting and I got to know each other again. We’ve been together ever since.
I work in both acrylic and oil, sometimes both at once. I like to move between representational and abstract expression, sometimes both at once. I draw inspiration from urban landscapes, vintage family photographs, beloved pets, and the cherished vistas from our cottage on the North Channel of Lake Huron.
What compels me most is the mystery inherent in the process. Watching over my own shoulder, I see the painting unfold and reveal itself, bringing unexpected moments, providing me with wonderful choices of what to bring out, and what to let disappear. Painting is, for me, an act of discovery.
